Five Little Things I loved the week of June 15, 2018: Fireworks Pasta Salad, the magic number for baking, dance dads, and more.

Five Little Things

Friday at last! It is Friday, isn’t it? I’ve been navigating this week thinking it was one day behind, if that makes any sense. Thursday felt like Wednesday, Wednesday felt like Tuesday, and so on, which, I guess is better than the other way around!

To celebrate Friday, here are Five Little Things I loved this week:

1. Pasta Salads

The grill has been put to good use this week, so you know what that means, right? While things sizzle outside, I’ve been making salads inside! One of my favorite pasta salads has become a reader favorite so I shot this recipe video for my Fireworks Pasta Salad. Silly name, but it lives up to its name — this spicy update to a macaroni salad is the perfect addition to your 4th of July menu, and is just as delicious all summer long!

2. Chino-Latino Fusion

Seeing this video makes me crave a trip back to New York to all the delicious food enclaves like this one — Chino-Latino food reminds me of the fusion of flavors found in the Philippines!

3. 350°F Magic

Ever wonder why 350°F is the magic number when it comes to baking? This video explains it all.

4. Triangle Solo

We’ve been watching so many kid performances lately – band, musical, dance, you name it, I feel like we’ve been in theatres all month, but especially so this week. In a few hours I’ll be off to watch my son’s band camp performance…I wonder if anyone will have a triangle solo?

5. Dance Recitals…and Dads

Speakign of performances. My son had his very first dance recital this week — I am super proud of him for following his curiousity and giving tap dance a whirl! Needless to say, we sat through hours of dance recitals, with lots of other eager parents, all of whom I’m sure would have rushed on stage to rescule their child, like this sweet dad. Forget dance moms, dance dads are the best!

On that note, thanks, all you dads out there, for all you do! Happy Father’s Day weekend!
