Walking on Sunshine

It’s those little things that can make a person’s day.  And today, a fellow blogger totally surprised me!  I was given the Sunshine Award by Denise from Quickies on the Dinner Table.  I am extremely flattered that she passed on this honor, and am even more humbled to be among the other noteworthy bloggers she selected.  While I am still very new to the world of blogging, I have really learned a lot, and am also amazed at what other “foodies” (still getting used to that word, not sure why) around the world accomplish in their kitchens, and capture with their cameras and computers.  Denise has been so amazing to follow – she churns out the most fascinating recipes all the way in Singapore.  I am always intrigued by her use of local ingredients, some quite unusual to the American kitchen.  If you haven’t seen her blog, please pay her a visit and see what she’s got cooking!

As part of the Sunshine Award, I am supposed to select 12 other bloggers that I like.  Without further ado:

Merry Jennifer at The Merry Gourmet – Doctor by day (and night), and foodie blogger whenever else. I love her crisp photos, and her writing draws you in like an old friend.  I feel like I share very similar styles in cooking and recipes — I suspect if we were given the same magazine, we would probably try the same recipes.

Donna at Dishy Goodness – Based in LA, Donna is churning out the most captivating images of food and restaurants (and probably soon, recipes as well) on her blog.  I just love, love what she captures with her photography.

Spicy Green Mango – A fellow blogger in the Bay Area, I totally feel like I can connect with her enthusiasm for growing and learning more about natural light food photography.  We are both amateurs, have the same camera though we use slightly different lenses, and I just am amazed at her beautiful photography.

Eric at My Hungry Tum – When I first visited Eric’s site, I really felt like he captured a niche in the blog world.  He researches and tackles a new national cuisine for each post, and each visit to his blog is like taking a trip to somewhere far away.

Tracey at Tangled Noodle – I love Tracey’s  philosophical musings on food, the way she ponders the sociology and anthropology behind it, and how, after you leave her blog, you realize that the world and all its cuisine is quite related.

Michelle at Brown Eyed Baker – I live vicariously through Michelle, who spends her time baking all things sweet and delectable.

Michael at Buko Pandan – Just visit this site.  You’ll understand.

Josie at One Kitchen One Girl – Actually, it’s one kitchen, two dogs, one girl, and she’s such a hoot.  Her posts are so funny (so are her tweets), and I think I fell in love with her blog when I saw her salted cashew brittle.  Yum.

Malou at Skip to Malou – Malou is not afraid to take Filipino classics and give them her own twist.  And always a good story…such love for her family on that blog!

Debi from Table Talk – One visit to Debi’s site and you’ll find fresh and vibrant flavors, and such a healthy approach to cooking.  It’s like a breath of fresh air each time I read her recipes!

David & Luise at Green Kitchen Stories – David and Luise live in Stockholm and just welcomed baby Elsa into the world.  She’s not even a month old!  But they have still managed to blog about some of the most beautiful and tantalizing vegetarian recipes.  Beautiful site.

Divina at Sense and Serendipity – Divina is based in the Philippines, and visiting her site is like going back to my family.  She was trained all over the world to be a professional chef.  Just love her blog.  Beautiful photography.

To the award winners, please pass this on to your favorite bloggers! Here are the Rules:

Hi Liren, Thank you so much for the award considering you have known my blog for only a few weeks. If you really miss the Philippines, then there’s a good chance you’ll be visiting me on my blog again. :) It’s really nice to know a Filipino blogger. Hugs.

You’re most welcome, Divina. I’ve actually known your blog for a while now (I was a reader much longer than I was a commenter). So glad to have connected!

Hi, Liren. Sorry about the mistake on the previous comment. I thought I was back at Eric’s. Please delete when you have a moment.

Your website is super, too. Keep it up! I enjoyed finding your fun blog via Eric’s site.

Wow, this is so neat! I am so honored that you selected me as one of the winners! Thank you so much. I am going to start thinking of my 12 right away. :)

BTW, not a big deal — just an FYI that I am actually based out of the Coachella Valley (Palm Springs area), but I’m an LA native….and an LA girl at heart, through and through. I miss my hometown!

    Thanks again, Liren!

We bumped into each other in the blogosphere for a reason Liren… and I can tell that we could be (virtual) friends, hanging out together (in our blogsites) and talk, and share and inspire!!!
Thank you for the award… and I would pick 12 (can I include you again hahaha!) and pass it along…
