Five Little Things
Five Little Things I loved the week of January 16, 2026: painting, sheep cake, crazy socks, and more.
A belated happy 2026! We’re already midway through the first month of the year! How are you? I took time out to really enjoy my family time over the holidays, and now that the kids are back at school, I’m also ready to get back to work in earnest. I hope you are having a good start to the year!
Here are Five Little Things I loved this week:
1. Shear Joy
We celebrated my daughter’s birthday this week, and her special request: a sheep cake! She has always loved sheep, so I was happy to see what I could whip up. I made a fresh strawberry cake, and while my piping skills are not the best, we still thought it was cute!
2. Painting Quality Time
One of my presents this Christmas was a painting session with my son! What a fun, fun time! I loved this time with him, and how relaxing it was to dabble in paints!

3. Beauty on Ice
I was really moved by Alysa Liu and Maxim Naumov at the U.S. Figure Skating Championships. Alysa’s grace and maturity on the ice was truly touching. And for Maxim, I was moved to tears, and could feel his parents’ presence in every movement, every interview, and in his sense of purpose. I am so excited for all the athletes who made the US Olympic figure skating team and can’t wait for Milano and Cortina!
4. Light and Crispy Notes
I love this little guy and how he describes music! Alexander Zhou’s performance is a must watch!
5. Crazy Socks
I was going crazy sorting my sock drawer this week, but after seeing CBS anchor Jim Donovan’s accomplishment in the Guinness Book of World Records, I don’t feel so bad!
Stay joyful!
