Five Little Things
Five Little Things I loved the week of April 11, 2026: being home, a special Easter, fried rice, and more!
Happy weekend, my friends! We have welcomed a generous amount of rain here in the Bay Area, and I hope it makes our beautiful green hills last a little longer! I’ve been playing a lot of catch up since my trip. There’s a new podcast episode for you, with Chef Nick Wong. And I have a new noodle recipe that can easily be made with pantry ingredients, perfect for busy weeknights.
Here are Five Little Things I loved this week:
1. Home Sweet Home
After last week’s visit to my hometown in New York, it has been so good to be back in my [other] home. The green California hills greeted me as I landed, immediately soothing my eyes. After all the grey cityscape, it was such a good feeling to be in nature again! Not only did the green hills look brilliant, I also saw a beautiful group of deer and turkeys on my walks! It was a lovely welcome home.
2. Easter
Last Easter weekend was especially meaningful for me and for our family. After months of preparation, my husband was officially welcomed into the Catholic Church, marking a poignant day in his faith journey.
3. Wisdom from Artemis
Artemis II pilot Victor Glover could not have expressed this beautiful perspective any better.
4. Fried Rice, Uncle Roger-style
My son and I are huge fans of Uncle Roger, the character by Nigel Ng. He is hilarious, and I love how he uses his humor to educate cooks of all abilities (from home cooks to Gordon Ramsay) how to make classic Asian dishes. This collab with cowboy Kent Rollins is a great example! I made some fried rice today and thought of this video as I stir-fried!
5. Canine Marshaller
Inaugural flights into Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport began this week, and I loved how Snoopy came to greet the first plane!
