Five Little Things
Five Little Things I loved the week of May 1, 2026: birthday cheesecake, sweet friendships, jazz hands, and more!
And just like that, it’s May. Happy May Day! I am bracing myself for a full-on Maycember – this month is nuts for so many families, ours included. I have been busy on the personal home front. The kids may be in college, but I have been functioning as their full-time personal assistant, concierge, travel agent, real estate agent, and more these last few weeks. We’ve got both kids moving respective apartments, a graduation, and all the travel that is necessary to get it all done. Here’s to all the parents who have their hands full!
Here are Five Little Things I loved this week:
1. Birthday Cheesecake
To celebrate my husband’s birthday this week, I baked his dessert of choice: cheesecake! This recipe is one of my favorites from culinary school, and I’ve been tweaking it to make it one of the easiest versions, ever. I hope to share it with you soon!
In the meantime, I love this gorgeous version of the Happy Birthday song!
2. Traditional French Butter
Nothing compares to butter made the traditional way, in Brittany. But what is even more incredible is how this master butter maker Jean-Yves Bordier treats his staff.
3. A Royal Promposal
With all the royal excitement in the country this week, I thought you might appreciate this very adorable promposal!
4. Jazz Hands for the NYT Crossword
If you do the crossword online, you’ll get it.
5. Thrifting BFF
Friendships are so special, especially when they look like this!
Stay joyful!
