Five Little Things
Five Little Things I loved the week of January 23, 2026: cauliflower, a talented young painter, the trick to eating alone, and more!
This week, there were so many things that brought a smile to my face. There was the birthday of a dear friend and a long, luxurious dinner with friends. I pushed myself hard at the gym and did hard things. I cooked delicious things, including the cauliflower dish I mention below, and my favorite Roasted Butternut Squash Winter Salad with Kale, Farro and Cranberry Dressing. Long walks with our pup, Binka. I’m so grateful for the little things, and for you!
Here are Five Little Things I loved this week:
1. Cauliflower
If you listened to this week’s episode interview with Rachel Riggs, or if you simply love cauliflower, her recipe for Tahini-Charred Cauliflower with Dates and Mint is a MUST make. I made a batch this week and found myself eating it nearly all by myself, it was that good!
2. Young Talent
Recently on Instagram, the mother of Sophia Jang reached out to let me know that her daughter had painted a picture of my Baked Blueberry Donuts with Blueberry Lemon Glaze, and asked permission to submit it her painting an art competition. I was honored! And even better, her art won the golden medal!
Congratulations, Sophia, I’m so thrilled for you! Didn’t she do an amazing job?

3. Good Reads
One of my goals this year to read more. I used to tear through so many books, but in the last few years, I’ve been so busy that my reading time has been limited. I recently finished The Correspondent, holding back tears. And right now I’m juggling Family of Spies, The Other Bennet Sister, and Remarkably Bright Creatures. What are you reading?
4. 100 Years
These centenarians tugged at my heartstrings.
5. The Trick to Eating Alone
I have no problem eating alone at a restaurant, but I never thought to try Lana Condor’s tactic.
Stay joyful!
