Five Little Things

Hi friends. I’m in a New York state of mind (cue the music). I am writing you from 33,969 feet in the air, on a flight back from my hometown. I’m always amazed how each time I go back, I feel slightly out of place, but after about an hour, I am back in the swing of things. No matter how long it has been since I’ve moved out, there will forever always be a piece of me that is quite at home there.

Here are Five Little Things I loved this week:

1. Back in New York

I spent the week back home in New York, with my daughter. It was a whirlwind of a trip, but I am grateful for the small things: spending time with her, watching her perform (SO proud!), visiting my dad, bringing flowers to my mother’s grave, and meals with friends and family. There’s never enough time to eat everything I want to tackle on these trips, but I still managed to enjoy some bagels and lox, siopao, dim sum, and rainbow cookies.

2. Quintessential New York, Orchid Style

We had our wedding reception at the New York Botanical Garden, so this place will forever be a special place. But right now, it’s even more special with this year’s exceptional orchid show, designed by Mr Flower Fantastic, Anthony Mason, whose story is as remarkable as his creations. I wish I had time to visit while I was in New York this week.

3. An Unexpected Past

I would love to dig deep into my family history, especially with the help of a show like Who Do You Think You Are. Olivia Coleman’s journey into learning about her ancestors was so beautiful!

4. Mini Charlie Puth

Look at this little guy! Not only is the perfect pitch uncanny, the resemblance to Charlie Puth is, too! He could pass as his son!

5. A Father-Daughter Duet

Since my daughter is in musical theatre, it seems appropriate that we end on this note. This little darling is headed places!

Stay joyful!
