Five Little Things
Five Little Things I loved the week of May 15, 2026: a Mother’s Day surprise, perpetual blooms, towel fights and more.
What a week! I’ve been feeling nostalgic, which often happens around Mother’s Day — I think of my mother and miss her so keenly around this time. In her honor, I published her recipe for Cheese Pimiento this week, a recipe that always makes me smile. Having her in my heart makes me appreciate the time I have with my children even more, beyond these special holidays.
Here are Five Little Things I loved this week:
1. A Mother’s Day Surprise
It’s been a couple of years since the family was together on Mother’s Day, so you can imagine my reaction when they surprised me this year! My son left to fetch “part of my gift,” and guess who walked in the door when he returned? My daughter! This may have been the first time my husband has been able to keep a secret, haha. Having everyone together was the best gift I could have asked for.
2. Keep it Blooming
I’m inspired to propagate my bouquet blooms!
3. Celebrating the First Birthday
I remember fondly how incredibly kind and supportive my obstetrician was when I delivered my babies. This doctor is another special one, and I wish they would make this mandatory in OBGYN residency!
4. Towel Fight
I’ll be spending a lot of time at hotels over the next couple of months. I wonder if I could try this wholesome towel fight?
5. MJ Ad Lib
Have you seen the new Michael Jackson movie? I can’t wait! In the meantime, this cracks me up!
