Five Little Things

Five Little Things I loved the week of October 10, 2025: pears, Dear New York, Saturday mornings, and more.

Pears were one of the Five Little Things I loved the week of October 10, 2025.
Five Little Things

This was one of those weeks when there were so many things to love, I had a hard time narrowing things down. Last weekend, my daughter was home for a very quick visit from college, and she took me to see broadway and Disney voice legend Lea Salonga perform live! Words can’t express how much it meant for me to see and hear her in person – her voice is as exquisite and strong as ever. It was such a treat to share this experience with my daughter!

Daily walks with our dog have been so beautiful and peaceful – I just love how the light is golden this time of year, the weather has a slight chill (at least early and late in the day), and the leaves are turning into gorgeous shades of amber. I made some Sweet Potato Pancakes while my daughter was home, and I have some pumpkin that is begging to be transformed into Buttermilk Pumpkin Bread!

Here are Five Little Things I loved this week:

1. Pears

I have been, in a word, obsessed. The pears this season have been incredible, and I created a reel with my friends a California Cultivate to celebrate them in what is, in my opinion, the best autumn cake.

I loved how it turned out so much, I decided to share the recipe for the Pear Walnut Cake this week.

And if you’re looking for something a little sweet and savory, I also reshot my Pear & Walnut Gorgonzola Pizza.

2. Becorns

What are Becorns you ask? They are the charming, joy-inducing creations of David M. Bird. I love how he creates magic and makes so many people smile!

3. Dear New York

As a native New Yorker, I love when I see beautiful things that are happening in my hometown, such as the Dear New York art installation in Grand Central Station. Replacing the ads are photography of Brandon Stanton, the artist behind Humans of New York.

Their recent story is poignant and ties in so beautifully.

4. Saturday Mornings

The folks at the Stuff You Should Know Podcast reminded me of The Happy Place of Saturday Morning Cartoons. I miss those lazy Saturday mornings!

5. Lonely Goatherd

How clever is this — if you’re a Sound of Music fan, then perhaps this is a perfect Halloween costume to coincide with the musical’s 60th anniversary!

Stay joyful!
