Five Little Things

Five Little Things I loved the week of October 24, 2025: foodies in Flushing, more citrus, Thunder Dog, and more!

Five Little Things

Hi friends, this week went by really fast. I am on the road and excited to see my daughter perform this weekend, and as I was driving at the crack of dawn, the sun rising over the foggy California hills, I was really struck by just how beautiful our world is. It’s a good reminder that sometimes it’s good to wake up before the sun to have a chance to greet it. I have been obsessed with citrus this week, and I can’t wait for you to see what treats I have scheduled next week, so please stay tuned for that.

In the meantime, here are Five Little Things I loved this week:

1. Pumpkin Bread

I baked a couple of loaves of Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Bread for my daughter. As the aroma filled the kitchen with pumpkin goodness, I realized that I really should bake with pumpkin more throughout the year!

2. Thunder Dog

I started a new book this week: Thunder Dog: The True Story of a Blind Man, His Guide Dog, and the Triumph of Trust. This page turner goes beyond the harrowing story of Michael Hingson and his guide dog Roselle on 9/11, and dives deeper as a memoir into the experiences that shaped this defining moment in his life.

3. (Some of) The Best Food in Flushing, NY

I grew up eating at some of the best Chinese restaurants in the country, in Flushing, NY. At the time, I took this little haven of culinary heaven for granted, but after moving away, I miss it! Watching Joshua Weissman explore Flushing’s eats had me craving all the food!

4. Trunk or treat!

How clever is this costume for trunk or treat!?

5. Rainbow Connection

Here is a little peace to send you into the weekend.

Stay joyful!
