Five Little Things I loved the week of February 6, 2026: a mug of tea, a special chapel, a feisty kitty, and more!

Misua bola bola was one of the five little things I loved the week of February 6, 2026.
Five Little Things

Here we are, it’s February! It may be the dreariest time of the year, but I have found so many glimmers of hope and joy. Never mind tax season looming around the corner! Or the cold storms that have covered much of the country with their arctic chill. Or even the nasty germs that visited my house this week. Here are Five Little Things I loved this week:

1. Soups from the Archives

I have been giving some older recipes from the archives a little TLC, updating content, rephotographing, and enjoying them along the way. It’s like spending time with old friends! One of these is a recipe for a Filipino meatball noodle soup called Misua Bola-Bola. This was one of my favorite dishes growing up – if my mother ever asked me what I was craving, bola-bola would usually be my answer!

2. First Signs of Spring

I was taking my daily walk on Groundhog Day when I looked up into the trees and noticed the first plum blossoms peeking from the tree tops!

3. A Mug of Life

We need more strangers sharing stories over a cup of tea.

4. A Special Chapel

The students who built and the community of over 2000 who gathered at a church made from ice and snow at the University of Notre Dame captured my heart! What a special chapel, and a special mass!

5. Part of the Family

This little kitty surprised his family by tagging along on a family vacation!

Stay joyful!
