Five Little Things I loved the week of June 26, 2026: stone fruit, a breath of fresh air, a delicious birthday, and more!

Peaches are one of the Five Little Things I loved the week of June 26, 2026.
Five Little Things

Hello from Pennsylvania! Yes, I’m back on the East Coast! I’m spending some time with my son this week, with a couple of days in New York to see my daughter. It’s nice to have one-on-one time with each of them, and a bit of a break from the mundane.

You may recall that I celebrated a birthday last week, and while our original trip plans didn’t pan out the way we wished, my husband and I ended up having the most delicious celebration back at home. It was the best lemons-to-lemonade kind of situation, and I have to tell you, we ended up having the most incredible sushi at a new restaurant, right in our hometown. The experience transported me to Japan, and each bite was exquisite and lovingly prepared. This was followed by a stop at another restaurant, where we sat outside and savored warm butter cake and paired with a toast of heavenly Sauternes.

I hope you’re also having a delicious week! With that in mind, here are Five Little Things I loved this week:

1. Sweet Stone Fruits

I can’t get enough of the stone fruit right now! Each time I pop into the farmer’s markets, we stock up. Do you have a favorite? Make sure you save some of your fruit and try my Summer Corn and Nectarine Tabbouleh, Cherry Basil Sorbet, and Apricot Galette!

2. Tour de Dad

I’m counting down to the start of the Tour de France! Even if you’re not in a family that embraces the Tour and all things cycling, I bet you’ll love how this family celebrated their dad’s 75th birthday with a Tour de Dad!

3. A Breath of Fresh Air

My heart goes out to anyone who has to spend extended time in a hospital. Unfortunately, hospital buildings can feel cold and gloomy, and not exactly the kind of environment that promotes healing. I love that London’s King’s College hospital has built an outdoor critical care unit to give their patients not only a breath of fresh air, but a soothing place to rehabilitate.

4. Outdoor Reading

In an age where everyone is staring at a screen, it makes me happy to see people reading physical books. I’ll never forget a particular flight when nearly everyone on board was reading either a physical book or actual newspapers! I bet all those passengers would appreciate how the readers in Seoul are gathering to read out by the water – it seems magical!

5. A Disney Princess in Disguise?

I think this Anaheim police officer should change his name to Officer [Snow] White.

Stay joyful!
