Five Little Things
Five Little Things I loved the week of May 15, 2020: cookie dough, New York tributes, quarantine haircuts, and more!
Happy Friday, friends. I found myself struggling a little this week, but with the sobering reality, there were also many special highlights. My family made my Mother’s Day extremely wonderful, and I felt so loved. So at the close of this week, here are Five Little Things I loved, and I hope it brings a smile to your face, too.
1. Cookies
When we celebrated my husband’s birthday with cheesecake, I had some extra cream cheese, so what did I do? Stocked up on my favorite Cream Cheese Chocolate Chip Cookies! I now have a freezer of cookie dough at the ready!
2. Swiss Chocolate
This Mother’s Day was especially sweet, but one unexpected surprise was winning the loveliest selection of decadent chocolates from my friend Lynnette on instagram – she hosted a delicious giveaway of Läderach chocolates and I have to tell you — it is utterly amazing. If you are looking for a good gift idea, I highly recommend. My husband has already put this on his Christmas wish list, haha!
3. Hour By Hour Cooking
I know I feel like I’m constantly cooking and dealing with dishes at my house, and it’s oddly comforting to know that everyone is in the same boat, including the likes of Stanley Tucci. Thought you might enjoy his piece in The Atlantic today on Cooking Your Way Through the Pandemic: An hour-by-hour account—with recipes.
4. New York, New York
My hometown is always on my mind these days, and I was so touched by the Rise Up New York/Robin Hood Concert that raised $115M for those in need.
I also loved Spike Lee’s love letter to the people of New York in his short film, New York New York.
5. Quarantine Haircuts
Have you attempted a quarantine haircut yet? I’ve given my son two homegrown haircuts and at the rate it’s going, I’m going to have to give him another cut this weekend! Apparently, James Corden’s staffers had fun giving themselves haircuts, too!
Have a wonderful weekend!
I’m love your 5 little things so much, I sent my husband the chocolate link and totally lol’d at the haircut video. I gave my husband a haircut and man did it take forever!!
Aw, thank you SO much, Phi! You totally have to get your hubby a box of those chocolates — maybe Father’s Day?!
