Five Little Things
Five Little Things I loved the week of August 10, 2018: my AncestryDNA results, pasta grannies, ice skating, and more!
Oh, friends, I can’t tell you how happy I am that it’s Friday. At this time last week, I was actually writing Five Little Things from the oral surgeon’s office. My daughter had her wisdom teeth extracted and this week has been devoted to nursing her through her recovery. It’s one of the challenges of parenting no one ever tells you about, and a week later, I am so relieved it is behind us. She is back to her normal self again, and I can’t tell you how happy that makes me.
I’m also thrilled because tomorrow is Saturday, which means we pick up our little guy from his two-week sleepaway camp! It was definitely a challenge being away from him, and I can’t wait to give him a hug and hear about all his adventures!
Mama struggles aside, here are Five Little Things I loved this week:
1.My DNA Story
I’m not sure if you caught my Instagram Stories a few weeks ago, but on it, I shared something I have wanted to try for such a long time…an AncestryDNA kit! Even though I understood my DNA story to be pretty straightforward, I was super curious to see what might show up…and guess what? I was lucky enough to partner with AncestryDNA to share this experience with you, AND I was definitely surprised! So COME BACK next week, and I will share what I learned, and the recipe it inspired! You won’t want to miss it!
2.Food History from Nonna
Speaking of food and family, I love how these “Pasta Grannies” are passing on their precious recipes and history. I’ve always wished I had an Italian nonna, and now, I can pretend I have one by visiting their YouTube channel! I want to try their homemade pasta with my simple fresh tomato basil sauce!
3. Berry Full Videos
Speaking of recipe videos and YouTube, I can’t wait to share another new recipe video with you next week! It will be full of berries and stone fruit…and some very special ingredients. Can you guess what it will be?
4. Skating through Life
I was scrolling through Hulu the other night and realized I haven’t watched I, Tonya, yet. Have you? As a figure skating fan, I need to remedy this…and this amusing video with Adam Rippon breaking down skating movies made me chuckle…and now I’m adding Blades of Glory to my watch-list, too, haha!
5. Drying Rack?
You guys, I was laughing so hard when I saw this clip from Fresh off the Boat! I definitely visited friends’ houses growing up where this happened!
Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!
Disclosure: This edition of Five Little Things mentions an upcoming sponsored post by AncestryDNA, however all opinions, as always, are my own, and I only share five little things that truly matter to me!
