Five little things I loved this week:

1. Visualizing the Daily Recommended Serving

We always hear about the daily recommendation of fruits and veggies – but how does it actually look? I loved these pictures from The Kitchn, that help us visualize how much fruits and vegetables we should be eating. Seeing it visually makes it less intimidating, and is heartening for me, as I pack lunches for my family!

2. Why Lunch Ladies Are Heroes

My children are starting school next week, and while I usually pack their lunch every day, once a week, they consider it a treat to buy lunch at school. I’ve noticed over the years how much they love the lunch staff at the school, and this Ted talk from Jarrett J. Krosoczka: Why lunch ladies are heroes really made my week! I hope you take a minute to watch his heartwarming story.

3. Humanity

New York City hair stylist Mark Bustos services humanity in a way I find touching and inspiring. We need more people like him in the world.

4. Wonder

This book. My daughter read it long while back, but brought it back from the bookshelves so that we could read it together each night before bed. It may be considered young adult or even juvenile literature, but it is an amazing piece of literature, and one that moved my heart. “Did you like it more than The Fault in Our Stars?” she asked (most likely because she has been begging to read it, and I am worried she may not be ready for some of the content). “YES.” I truly did. It is, as the title says, a wonder.

5. American Junk Food (through an Aussie’s Eyes)

I strive for balance, so I will not lie – there are times when I will indulge in junk food. Maybe a couple of times a year. I can’t tell you the last time I ate a Pringle or a Twinkie, but I was highly amused when I saw this Australian girl cut her teeth on American junk food favorites – her reactions are priceless!

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend, everyone!
