Five little things I loved this week:
Comfort Food
From Braised Chipotle Short Ribs, to Filipino Chicken Adobo, to a big bowl of spaghetti piled high with meatballs, I have been loving comfort food this week. The weather is partially responsible, but so is the ease of a slow cooker. There’s nothing better than tucking into a hearty meal that has been bubbling all afternoon at the end of the day.
This recipe for Tabasco Braised Chicken with Chickpeas and Kale by Heidi at Foodie Crush caught my eye, it reminded me of a Slow Cooked Braised Chicken with Chickpeas & Peppers I made a few years ago. There’s nothing better than tender chicken, braised with chickpeas, and I can’t wait to try Heidi’s dish, especially since I adore my Tabasco.
A Creative Mom & Her Napping Baby
I was enchanted by artist and photographer Queenie Liao and how she photographed her napping baby Wengenn by incorporating imaginative backgrounds – each photograph is a fairytale wonder! You can read and see more of her work here.
A Creative Dad & His Baby LED Light Halloween Costume
Dads are creative, too, and in case you haven’t seen this awesome glow in the dark stick figure costume, you’ve got to check it out:
Folding a Neighbor’s Laundry (Or Random Acts of Kindness)
The world would be a better place if there more random acts of kindness, like this one woman’s experience, as shared in the New York Times Metropolitan Diary.
38 Sweet Facts About Candy
Well, Halloween candy is about to flood my house, so I thought I’d share these sweet facts about candy, as told by Mental Floss. I loved learning how my beloved Toblerone got its name! What is your favorite candy? I know I’m hoping to raid my children’s treat bags for some Twix and Kit Kats!
Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!
A recipe for Spaghetti and Meatballs would be marvelous. :)
I LOVE the stick figure halloween costume! That’s such a great idea! I wonder if/how I could make that work on my dog…
That would be hilarious, Katy! We have an English Bulldog – if I could make him a stick figure costume, it would be SO funny!
Yummy and so comforting!!
OMG! THat creative mommy images. So fun!!
It almost makes me with I had a napping baby in the house again, Kiran :)
Did I miss the recipe for this spaghetti and meatballs somewhere on the page
? :)
Hi Chris, no you weren’t mistaken, the recipe is not on this page. My Five Little Things post generally does not include a recipe, but perhaps it is time for me to dedicate a post to Spaghetti and Meatballs! I sometimes assume that everyone has a standby recipe for this, but I am always happy to share if someone cares to try my version.
Oh that spaghetti! I’m suddenly hungry for a mid-morning snack!
Spaghettis as a mid morning snack is not a bad idea, Laura ;)
