Five Little Things
Five Little Things I loved the week of August 14, 2026: market berries, how dogs love us, a sweet anniversary dinner, and more!
The weekend is upon us! Did you have a good week? My kids have been crisscrossing the country again – at one point, we had both kids in the air, flying in opposite directions. I will say, it’s nice to have some one-on-one time with each of them, and it will be even better when we have time all together in the near future. I’ve been cooking more of their special requests, which include champorado, mechado, and pancit. This weekend, I’ll be making rhubarb cake!
Here are Five Little Things I loved this week:
1. Sweet Berries
The berries were showing off at the farmer’s market this week! What’s your favorite way to enjoy them? I’ve been making a lot of smoothies for the boys in the family, throwing them into pancakes, and topping some of my favorite overnight oats. And with this weekend’s haul, I plan to make a berry crisp!
2. How Dogs Love Us
What motivates dogs? Do they love treats or praise? This study got through the heart of the answer.
3. Respecting the Flag
Amazon drivers have been known for their acts of kindness, and I was touched by this one and her respect for the flag while delivering a package at a Kentucky home.
And I loved how she shared the reason behind her story.
4. Gingerbread NYC
The holidays will be here before we know it! For talented bakers, have you considered applying for the bake-off?? Gingerbread NYC is returning for the fifth year at the Museum of the City of New York!
5. A Sweet Anniversary Dinner
Something tells me this couple will never forget this anniversary!
Stay joyful!
