Five Little Things

Well my friends, we’re 33 days away from spring. That doesn’t sound so bad, does it? I’ve been living on soups and spices, curries and comfort food this week. And eating lots of egg salad. I think you’ll notice how that’s influenced this week’s Five…

Five Little Things

Well my friends, we’re 33 days away from spring. That doesn’t sound so bad, does it? I’ve been living on soups and spices, curries and comfort food this week. And eating lots of egg salad. I think you’ll notice how that’s influenced this week’s Five Little Things.

Without further ado, here are Five Little Things I loved this week:

1. Spices and Curries

I’ve always wanted to learn how to cook more Indian food, especially since I love to eat it so. This week I shared this White Chicken Curry Pot Pie from my friend Asha’s first cookbook, and I am really enjoying how approachable her recipes are! What Indian recipes are on your to-learn list?

While we’re on the subject of curries, and you already know my love for Thai-curries runs deep. I made a video of this very simple and soul warming soup and ate it for several days straight!

2. 150 Years of Spice

My favorite hot sauce turned 150 years old this week! A few years ago, I had the pleasure of traveling to Avery Island, where Tabasco is made, and it’s a trip that will always be a fond memory. Learning so much about the rich history of Tabasco, meeting the family, and the special island that is home to Tabasco continues to inspire my cooking!

3. The Muffin Man

Tomorrow is National Muffin Day, but unlike random food holidays, this one is about baking muffins to feed the community in your local area. It all started with Jacob Kaufman, who baked his first batch of muffins in 2015, and Julia Levy, who heard of his story and how he offered extra muffins to the homeless in the streets of San Francisco. Now it has become a movement, and we can all get involved by baking muffins, posting on social media with the hashtag #givemuffins, and sharing with the homeless in our community. For every person who posts on social media, Jacob “the Muffin Man” will donate per person to the nonprofit Project Homeless Connect.

4. Deviled Eggs

I was just talking about deviled eggs with my little guy when this popped up in my Instagram feed:

Fried Deviled Eggs are a game changer!

5. Eggs-actly Perfect for a Crowd

Speaking of eggs…I think this method of making Eggs Benedict for a crowd is worth trying!

I hope you stay warm with this winter chill, with curries and brunches to keep you cozy. Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!
